Why Hire Me? Because I'm...

A DESIGNER A DESIGNER

I create user flows, site maps, concept sketches, icons, illustrations, mockups, wireframes and prototypes for web and mobile products using the full Adobe Creative Suite and prototype them with Invision or Axure to share with the team and then clients.

A PROBLEM SOLVER A PROBLEM SOLVER

I use both the left and right side of my brain to solve problems. I approach them creatively and constructively using qualitative and quantitative research methods as well as good old intuition and design knowledge.

A STORYTELLER A STORYTELLER

I tell stories about users to better understand the emotional side of their experiences so I can better empathize with them. I enjoy walking many miles in their shoes to get a better idea of what kind of gear would fit them best.

A COLLABORATER A COLLABORATER

Whether it’s design critiques or brainstorming sessions, I work closely with clients, designers, developers, researchers, and stakeholders so I have a better understanding of the entire big picture of a design project.

A COMMUNICATOR A COMMUNICATOR

I can negotiate rationally with all stakeholders clearly articulating a rationale behind all of my executions and how they fit into the product vision. I defend my design choices, but welcome an open discussion and believe the best ideas can come from anyone on the team regardless of role.

FLEXIBLE & ADAPTABLE FLEXIBLE & ADAPTABLE

I understand things change, especially in an agile world. It never fails that something happens last minute. So I strive to remain flexible and adaptable throughout the entire design process through final launch.

About Me

Over the course of my 17+ year design career, I’ve had the pleasure to partner with such brands as Cisco, Citibank, Compaq, Dell, Hewlett-Packard, KTM Motorcycles, Kuhmo Tires, Logitech, McAfee, and Oracle to name a few. During that time my goal has remained the same, to create digital products that people simply love.

My focus isn’t just on the end product but also the collaborative process through which experiences take shape. Through an agile approach, I love workshops with lot’s of post-its, quickly iterating with whiteboard sketches, crafting the experience with collaborative design tools and building prototypes to share with others. I enjoy taking a very hands-on approach with every experience I work on from initial brief through launch. I’m able to help bring each project to life through research, user flows, site maps, wireframes, visual & experience design, prototyping, QA, testing, redlines, brand, logo, iconography, and whatever else that comes up and needs to get done!

John Lambie, Creative Director <br> Cloudstaff

Mark is an all-too-unassuming art director that lets his visuals do all the talking. With his uncanny eye, he’s a designer’s designer, agile and adept across the gamut of media. He totally understands the impact of the visual, always delivering a range of well-thought-through options that are clear, clean and effective. He finds a way to make the complex simple and, to me, that’s the essence of effective communication. Not only that, he’s got an incredible work ethic: in early, head down, exploring options, refining and perfecting. No fuss, no ego, no tantrums; just great ideas and great work.
